The Youth Red Cross Unit of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology conducted an awareness program on “HIV/AIDS” on May 17, 2024, at the college premises. The resource person for this program was Mr. K. Selvan, ICTC, ART, STD Counsellor, Primary Health Centre, Pooluvapatti, Coimbatore. He briefed about the origin of HIV/AIDS, world statistics, national statistics, the spreading ways of HIV/AIDS, stages and symptoms of HIV infection, HIV in body fluids, ways of preventing HIV infection, condoms, the ABC approach, window periods, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), positive living, and HIV medicine. One hundred and thirty-two first year students at Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology participated in this awareness program and benefited.
